I offer individual psychoanalysis to adults in Dijon, France, as well as internationally online and via telephone. I work in English.

What is psychoanalysis?

Psychoanalysis offers people a confidential and nonjudgmental space in which to discuss their personal challenges, explore the meaning of their experiences, examine their values and beliefs, and consider and decide upon changes for the future.

People seek analysis for many different reasons. Some do so because they are struggling with a recent (or not-so-recent) event, such as a personal or professional loss, or because they wish to address uncomfortable feelings, such as sadness or anxiety. Others come in order to address entrenched behaviour patterns or habits they wish to shed. Others hope to deepen their self-knowledge or find greater freedom and satisfaction in life. Often, people come to analysis having tried other forms of treatment, and wanting to go further than these have allowed.

What’s involved?

In our sessions, I will invite you to speak openly about whatever is on your mind. I will listen carefully and, more importantly, I will help and encourage you to hear yourself in new ways. This process can lead to important changes.

My practice is oriented by the work of Sigmund Freud and the French analyst Jacques Lacan. This tradition insists on paying close attention to our use of language. It also encourages us to explore desires and intentions of which we may not be immediately aware.

Our work together will not involve me making a psychiatric diagnosis, offering you advice, or training you in specialised mental techniques. Instead, I will encourage you, through speech, to come up with your own answers and with solutions unique to your situation. This can take time and patience, but ultimately makes more meaningful and lasting outcomes possible.

About me

Before entering clinical practice, I worked in academia, completing a Doctor of Philosophy focused on the relationship between philosophy and literature. I later undertook graduate training in counselling and psychotherapy alongside my psychoanalytic formation, supervision, and extensive personal analysis.

Aside from my clinical practice and supervision, I write and teach internationally on psychoanalysis. I am a faculty member at the Blanton-Peale Institute in New York and have taught independently and through a range of organisations and institutions, including the Global Center for Advanced Studies and Pulsion Institute.

My research and teaching focus particularly on Freudian and Lacanian theory, clinical structure, drive theory, psychoanalytic ethics, and the relationship between psychoanalysis, culture, and contemporary life. I have also collaborated extensively with Derek Hook on seminars and clinical teaching programmes in Lacanian psychoanalysis.

I am the author of the books On Not Fitting In: Psychoanalytic Rem(a)inders and Drive: Theory and Clinic After Freud and Lacan, forthcoming respectively with Routledge and  Palgrave Macmillan.

Originally from Australia, I have lived in Europe for more than a decade.
